“A visit to Petey’s pad” indeed. Interesting decor (college students notably keep bowls of fruit in their apartments, it’s true) to be sure, but don’t patronize us, Stan Lee, what’s not to interest us about Harry’s room?
But then I suppose “no one caring about Harry” would have never reached the memetic status it has by now. Gosh Harry, get out of Petey’s pad that your father owns and Peter’s not paying you any rent money for! This guy.
Amazing Spider-Man Annual #4, Stan Lee & Larry Lieber.
Well, ouch.
(From ASM#599 and ASM#122)
Poor Harry, although in ASM #122 Peter is not in his right mind or okay, being this the aftermath of Gwen Stacy’s death…
That was mere hours after Gwen’s death, if I remember rightly. Poor Peter. (Poor everyone. *wibble*)
It is completely, 100% understandable that Peter would react that way, but it’s also arguably one of the worst things he’s ever done. And that’s why I love this scene so much.

Sergei Kravinoff: Hunter. Marksman. Strategist. Giant jerkface.
And I quote.
Or paraphrase.
Spider-Man: Blue #6, Jeph Loeb & Tim Sale.

Harry: I didn’t realize you and my dad knew each other well enough that he’d ask about you.
Peter: Harry…
Harry: Hey. No big.
Peter (Narration): I wanted to be happy for Harry, Gwen. His father was finally out of the hospital and yet…
You have to give Harry one thing: he manages to be both passive-aggressive and disarming at once like a real professional. Say what you will, Norman, but the boy’s a born businessman.

I started reading the famous poem Goblin Market, and the heroine is called Lizzie, so this just sort of happened.

Harry: MJ said something about you might having to work late. She said your job can get kinda dangerous. Taking pictures of Spider-Man and stuff.
Peter: MJ said that? She’s — she’s all right, that Mary Jane.
Harry: Yep. She’s hot as a pistol.
Peter (Narration): … And right about then, it was weird talking to him about you two. I know, I know, I hadn’t done much in dating either of you — more to the point, I hadn’t done that much dating at all. But… I guess I didn’t like what Harry… um… I don’t know what I didn’t like about what Harry was doing. Not yet, anyway. (/Narration) Hey, Harry…? Nice apartment.
Harry: Yeah, and, uh… welcome home, roommate.
No women for Harry ever.
I mean, that’s sort of accurate, but I suppose Peter hasn’t fared much better himself, in all fairness. Married characters aren’t relatable!
